X Prize Foundation offers up $10 million for ultra fuel efficiency

Ready to get your engineer on? Last week at the New York Auto Show, the X Prize Foundation threw down the gauntlet for a challenge of epic proportions - for someone to create a production-ready vehicle, capable of getting 100 miles per gallon. Sixty teams from nine countries have already announced their intent to pursue the 10 million dollar prize. Applications will continue to be accepted through mid 2008, with finalists competing on-road in 2009 and 2010.
